Google has announced a new initiative during a Stadia Keynote for developers. Those who launch games on the Stadia platform will get a share of the revenue based on how much their game is played.
Stadia has pledged 70% of Stadia Pro’s revenue to developers that launch their game as a free titles on the service. The amount developers can get is “based upon engagement” which is measured in session days. Google is also adding a $10 payout to developers for every player who subscribed to Stadia Pro after clicking the new “Click to Play” affiliate link. However, the payout only comes after the game has gained at least $500 via this.
What effect this will have on gamers is yet to be seen however, the announcement has already sparked controversy.
